How do I enable file sharing on my computer?

Enabling file sharing on your computer allows you to share files and folders with other devices on the same network. Here are the steps for enabling file sharing:


Using Windows File Explorer:

    • Open File Explorer (you can press Windows key + E).
    • Select the file or folder you want to share.
    • Click on the Share tab at the top of the window.
    • In the Share with section, choose either:
      • Specific people: Select a user on the network to share the file with.
      • Everyone: This option gives all network users access to the file.


Using Control Panel (Windows 10):

        • Open Control Panel.
        • Click on Network and Sharing Center.
        • Under Change your networking settings, select Change advanced sharing settings.

Network Discovery:

          • To ensure your computer is discoverable on the network:
            • Open Settings (press Windows key + I).
            • Go to Network & Internet.
            • Click on Network and Sharing Center.
            • Scroll down and click on Change advanced sharing settings.
            • Turn on Network discovery.
